CommBank Matildas To Make Historic SheBelieves Cup Debut In 2025

The CommBank Matildas will make their debut at the prestigious SheBelieves Cup in February

Hosted annually by US Soccer, the four-nation tournament will bring together some of the best teams in the world, with matches played across three states and three matchdays in the United States.

Celebrating its historic 10th edition, the 2025 SheBelieves Cup will feature reigning Olympic gold medallists and world number one United States Women’s National Team (USWNT), Australia, world number seven Japan, and world number 21 Colombia. All four teams competed at the Paris 2024™ Olympic Games, underscoring the elite calibre of the competition.

The CommBank Matildas will kick off their campaign against Asian Football Confederation rivals Japan on Thursday, 20 February 2025 (4:05pm CT) at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas. They will then face the hosts, USWNT, on Sunday, 23 February 2025 (3:05pm MST) at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona before wrapping up their tournament against Colombia on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 (4:30pm PST) at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California.

Football Australia CEO, James Johnson, highlighted the significance of the tournament for the CommBank Matildas and their ongoing preparations: “This is a tremendous opportunity for the CommBank Matildas to compete against some of the world’s best teams on an international platform. The SheBelieves Cup aligns with our vision to challenge the team in high-stakes environments as we continue to elevate the Matildas and build towards the next FIFA Women’s World Cup™,” Johnson said.

“The invitation to this respected tournament speaks to the high regard of the CommBank Matildas internationally. The SheBelieves Cup is a high-calibre tournament, and we are ecstatic that the CommBank Matildas have been offered a coveted position in next year’s edition.

“With the line-up of US Women’s National Team, Japan, and Colombia, the meaningful experience gained from being a part of top-quality competition will be an invaluable set of matches for our AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ preparations. This planning has already seen the securing of matches against the Paris 2024™ Olympic silver medallists (Brazil), bronze medallists (Germany), and now we add the gold medallists in the US Women’s National Team.

“The mixture of styles, world-class players, and replication of a tournament-style playing schedule provides an opportunity for the further development and roster evolution on the road to 2026 and the next cycle.

“We thank US Soccer for this invitation and look forward to being a part of the SheBelieves Cup,” Johnson concluded.

February will mark the first meeting between Australia and the USWNT since their group-stage fixture at Paris 2024™, where the Americans claimed victory. The CommBank Matildas and Japan will reignite their friendly rivalry, last meeting in a pre-Tokyo 2020™ Olympic Games international friendly. Additionally, the tournament will feature a first-ever senior match between the Matildas and Colombia, a fast-emerging powerhouse in South America.

The SheBelieves Cup follows a round-robin format, with each team playing each other once. The tournament champion will be determined by total points (three for a win, one for a draw), with tiebreakers including goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head results, and Fair Play rankings.

Fans will be able to watch the CommBank Matildas take part in the SheBelieves Cup live and exclusive on Paramount+ thanks to Football Australia’s broadcast partner, Paramount Australia.

10 Play will publish the full match replays and highlights of the Matildas away fixtures 36 hours after the completion of each respective match.
