Drew Barrymore Reveals What The Original Ending Of ‘50 First Dates’ Was Going To Be

Drew Barrymore revealed the original ending for the conic romcom 50 First Dates, which she stars alongside Adam Sandler, on her talk show.

The 49-year-old actor revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show that her daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10, were watching ‘50 First Dates’ with Sandler’s children, Sadie, 18, and Sunny, 16.

"My daughter and Adam's daughter were watching 50 First Dates at my house the other night," she recalled.

"I was like, 'Why are you guys watching this? Don't you get enough of me and your dad?'"

In the iconic romcom set in Hawaii, Barrymore played a character, Lucy, who loses her memory every day after a car accident. Sandler’s character then plays Henry, a vet who falls in love with Lucy.

The film was originally supposed to be titled ‘50 First Kisses’ and set in Seattle and have a very different ending.

"The original ending was her saying, 'You should go and live your life because this is no life here,'" she shared on her show back in August to Ross Matthews.

"And he goes away, as he does, and he comes back, and he walks into the restaurant, and he just sits down and says, 'Hi, I'm Henry.' And the film ends."

Matthews thanked her for changing that ending.
