The event comes a week after the Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in New York City, which saw 2,000 ratboys gather at Washington Square Park to compete for the crown.
Eagled-eyed fans of the Normal People actor will have seen the iconic posters appearing around the Dublin area, promoting the event.
Mescal’s doppelganger competition will take place at Smithfield Square in Dublin on 7 November, with the big winner walking away with their choice of either three pints or €20 plus “bragging rights”.
Irish fans have swarmed to social media to point out that everyone man in Ireland looks like Mescal.
“’Paul Mescal lookalike competition’ literally every man in Ireland looks like that,” one user wrote,
Another quipped: "This could be fun, or Paul Mescal is going to be humbled real quick.”
“They actually changed the location to my room,” one thirsty commenter wrote.
Comment of the day went to Durex UK, who commented, “Does anyone know the cheapest flight there.”
